There's a Huge Household Cleaner Recall – Here's How To Get Your Refund

Check your under-sink cabinets because there's a huge recall of popular cleaning products, and it may affect you.

Clorox is recalling 37 million bottles of Pine-Sol that could contain potentially harmful bacteria. Recalls involving bacterial contamination typically involve food, but in this case, the solvents may have been contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a germ found in soil and water that can cause infections in humans.

The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, through the eyes, or by a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems aren't usually affected by the bacteria, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, but those with weakened immune systems or who use external medical devices are susceptible to infection that may require medical attention. 

The affected bottles are scented Pine-Sol. Products that smell like pine aren't affected. The recalled products and their UPCs are:

The recalled cleaners were produced between January 2021 and September 2022 at a plant in Georgia. They were sold at many online and national retailers, including Amazon, Target, Sam's Club, Dollar Tree, and Kroger. Clorox is advising customers to immediately stop using the affected products.

If you have any of the recalled Pine-Sol products, the company is issuing refunds for your purchase. Consumers can go to the recall website set up by Clorox and fill out a form for reimbursement. If you have any questions, call the company at 855-378-4982.
