If you're looking for something cheap to do this long holiday weekend, here's just the ticket: Regal, AMC, and other theaters are celebrating National Cinema Day on Saturday by offering $3 movie tickets across the country — the first time such a program has been offered.

Despite loosened pandemic restrictions, summer movie attendance still remains lower than it was in 2019 and is down more than 30%, according to Axios. The movie chains hope the $3 one-day event, available at more than 3,000 theaters, will spur foot traffic on what is typically a slow holiday weekend for movie-going.

To promote the deal, Regal Cinemas is offering a chance to win a $250 gift card to those who retweet the event on Twitter.

AMC is also offering a $5 drink and popcorn combo just for the day.

The special one-day movie price is valid for all screens, including IMAX and Dolby, and all movie times. Taxes and convenience fees are extra. Moviegoers can find participating theaters by visiting the event website.
