I Tried 8 Topo Chico Hard Seltzer Flavors — This Is the Best

From the minute Topo Chico mineral water hit the non-alcoholic seltzer scene, people were in love with it. Beautiful branding made me reach for it the first time, and the refreshing, high carbonation made Topo one of my go-tos. The good news? Topo Chico is in on the hard seltzer game now, slinging two different variety packs. With a lineup of classic and margarita-themed beverages, I decided to get in there and investigate. Here are eight Topo Chico hard seltzer flavors, ranked from best to worst.

It’s odd that I like this one the best, because for the life of me, I can’t tell you what it tastes like. It’s almost like the flavor is alcohol itself, except not in a bad way. As if you poured a little bit of tequila over ice and hit it with the tiniest little splash of citrus. I really like this. No other flavors are necessary, as far as I’m concerned.

This doesn't have too much strawberry, nor does it have too much guava. The flavor profile is Goldilocks-style just right, and that’s the best part. These are legitimately refreshing, and if I had some Coffee Bean crushed ice to pour this over, I would leap for joy.

This was the first sip of a Topo Chico hard seltzer that I ever took, and the entire experience was a pleasant surprise. At first taste, Topo's exotic pineapple flavor has all the sweetness of a standard pineapple seltzer, but then all at once, the flavor disappears and you’re left with a nice, fizzy finish. This isn’t very sweet at all, and I’m incredibly into that.

Do you like mango? Because you really have to like mango to get behind this flavor. While the sweetness dissipates pretty fast like the others, at first you are blasted in the head with a whole lot of mango.

Life isn’t that complicated. If you’re setting out to make a margarita hard seltzer, there’s no reason to force yourself into flavors that don’t make sense. Nobody wants a strawberry hibiscus margarita. Nobody wants a prickly pear margarita. Most people just want a traditional margarita, and that’s what Topo Chico has done here. This is good; slightly syrupy and sweet, but that’s what you expect. It’s a popular drink for a reason.

This is nowhere near as sweet as the rest of the margaritas. Though it tastes more like alcohol, it’s actually slightly less strong than the exotic pineapple. Whereas the classics are 4.7% ABV, the margaritas are 4.5%.

I love the idea behind this. This is a fun Topo Chico seltzer flavor, and it’s certainly more drinkable than the strawberry hibiscus, but as far as prickly pear goes? I don’t know what this tastes like, but I’m fairly certain it’s not prickly pear.

Predictably, the Topo Chico Margarita Hard Seltzer line is a whole lot sweeter than the flavors in the classic pack. This is sort of like the strawberry guava, except with a bunch of margarita mix dumped in. This is a pretty clear-cut matter of personal preference, and I just don’t love sweet drinks enough to love this one.
