It's hard to start walking around a Costco store without noticing something you never thought you would see there. It could be a $1,300 casket or the $3,000 four-person outdoor steam sauna, or something completely different. We wondered what other bargains on unexpected items are open to Costco members -- and how the prices compare with other sellers. Sometimes the savings were in the hundreds of dollars.

Costco offers mattresses, bed frames, sheets, and anything else needed for a good night's sleep, including a Tempur-Pedic Supreme King Mattress Set for $2,300. The same unit at Sleep Train goes for $3,099.

Diamond rings at Costco start at $380 and go up to almost $20,000. To give an example of how a warehouse store engagement ring compares, consider a diamond platinum ring for $2,000 at Costco. It outdazzles a similar ring from jewelry specialist Zales that would set the proposer back $2,249.

The 435-pound Bighorn Classic keeps up to 24 rifles locked up safe (including from fire for up to a half-hour) and sells for $800 at Costco. The price for a similar safe from the same company is $918 at Home Depot.

Costco has always had a busy electronics department, with much of its reputation built on great prices for TVs. But computers such as the Acer Swift 3 laptop, with an Intel Core i5 processor and a 1080p display, sells for $580 at Costco, compared with $650 at Best Buy.

At Walgreens, the package costs $90, but that's the way the diet cookie crumbles.
