When you buy an oven mitt or heat-proof glove, you expect them to prevent burns. But that’s not the case with one brand of oven gloves that’s been on sale for six years now. More than a million pairs of the oven gloves have been recalled, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission


Here’s how to tell if your oven gloves are part of the recall.

What Product is Being Recalled?

Temp-tations Oven Gloves, which are heat-resistant gloves meant to be used like oven mitts, have been recalled. About 1.1 million pairs of gloves have been sold in various different colors and with decorative patterns on them, including holiday and seasonal designs.

Why are Temp-tations Oven Gloves Being Recalled?

The Temp-tations Oven Gloves don’t guard against heat as well as customers think they do. There have been 162 reports of insufficient heat protection from the recalled Temp-tations Oven Gloves. That’s resulted in 92 reports of minor burns while using the product.

Where Were the Recalled Oven Gloves Sold?

The recalled Temp-tations Oven Gloves were imported and sold by only one outlet: QVC. They were sold between August 2018 and August 2024 in single pairs, sets of two pairs, and in sets with drying mats or trivets. Customers could have purchased them online at the QVC website, through the phone during QVC televised shows, and on QVC digital shopping platforms. They were priced between $4 and $13.

How Can I Tell if My Oven Glove is Recalled?

The recalled Temp-tations Oven Gloves are made of cotton and elastane and come in small and large sizes. There is a label stitched to the inside of the recalled gloves that reads “Temp-tations by Tara”. These are the model numbers of the recalled products:

What Should I Do if I Have a Recalled Oven Glove?

If you have a recalled Temp-tations Oven Glove, the CPSC advises you to immediately stop using it. QVC will issue refund checks for the products once you provide information and proof of ownership on a website made for the recall. Anyone with questions about the recall can contact QVC at 888-770-7119 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
