Nearly 5 million bottles of household cleaner have been recalled because they may contain a harmful bacteria.

The recalled bottles of Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner, manufactured by Colgate-Palmolive, were sold starting in December at several retail outlets nationwide, including Amazon, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Walmart, the Home Depot, and Sam's Club. There are 4.9 million bottles being recalled, but only about 1 million were shipped to stores for sale.

An insufficient amount of preservative was added to the product during manufacturing, according to a statement on the Fabuloso website announcing the recall. The inadequate preservative levels can lead to harmful bacteria growth, including Pseudomonas, which can affect those with lung conditions, weakened immune systems, or external medical devices, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
