A few major consoles are rolling out this holiday season: The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X and Series S. And while all have been available for pre-order, those pre-orders have been selling out almost immediately. If you want to get your hands on one, keep your eyes peeled and prepare to pay full price (or even more on eBay).
The silver lining is that prices for other consoles may go lower than ever. One of last year's notable deals included a $200 PS4 bundled with games at Best Buy; older models are still your best bet for rock-bottom prices. Don't expect huge price drops on the still-popular Switch or the Nintendo Switch Lite, though you may be able to snag a small price break or free game with those consoles. For instance, last year, Walmart sold the Switch at its normal price, around $299, but threw in Mario Kart 8, a $60 value.
Also likely to be hotter than ever this year: Accessories like gaming headsets, monitors, and chairs. The pandemic has meant people are spending more time than ever in front of their screens, and they want to be comfortable.
