Walt Disney's House Is for Rent If You Can Afford $40K a Month

If you're a Disney superfan, this listing in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles might interest you. Constructed in 1932, Walt Disney himself built and lived in the home with his wife and two daughters. It's now for rent, but it's pricier than even a week at either Disney World or Disneyland. But if you've got $40,000 to spend on rent each month, go for it

Fans of Disney will appreciate the home's pastiche of styles. According to a press release, these include French Provincial, French Country Tudor, and Neo-Gothic. Many of these styles pop up at Disneyland, too.

This four-bedroom, five-bathroom abode is just 6,388 square feet — which is surprisingly humble by modern mega mansion standards. But it's clear the current owners, who bought the home in 2011, have tried to preserve the period charm.

While it's been updated, Walt Disney is said to have watched dailies from his films in this room (though probably not on the pull-down screen). Five years after buying the property, Disney released his first animated feature: "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."

The Los Feliz home captures the quaint, ivy-covered cuteness that popped up in several early Disney features, such as "Cinderella" and "Lady and the Tramp."

While this room has clearly been updated, the kitchen in Walt Disney's home doesn't feel out of step with the rest of the house's 1930's charm.

The current owners are said to have studied period photos of the home when restoring the property. Check out the dining room ceiling.

While the pool seems rather sedate by modern standards, the new owner gets more than just a place to swim. Apparently, Disney gave his daughters a cottage-style playhouse inspired by "Snow White." The tiny playhouse can be found today near the pool.
