C Is for Cookie

It’s a new year, and that means it’s Girl Scout Cookie time. January 7 marks the official start of the season, so you’ll probably be seeing order sheets at work and booths set up outside grocery stores soon.

It’s going to be the last year you can order a couple of cookie varieties, so here’s what you need to know about this year’s sale.

Which Cookies Are Being Discontinued?

Two Girl Scout Cookie flavors are being discontinued after the 2025 season, according to People. They are Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay!. The S’mores variety features graham cookies sandwiched around chocolate and marshmallow, while the Toast-Yay! cookies are big, toast shaped cinnamon cookies with white icing on the bottom.

Can We Still Buy Them This Year?

Yes, you can still get both Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! cookies for the 2025 cookie season before they join the rest of the discontinued Girl Scout Cookies in that Great Bakery in the Sky. So if you’re a big fan of either of them, you can stock up and throw a couple of boxes in your freezer to enjoy later. They will not be available to purchase in 2026.

(Keep in mind that not all areas have all cookie varieties available. Local Girl Scout councils decide which cookies to sell, so it’s possible your area won’t have S’mores or Toast-Yay!, or have never had them.)

Are There Any New Cookies This Year?

Unfortunately, there are no new cookie varieties this year. Frankly, the Girl Scouts are probably still reeling from the Raspberry Rally debacle in 2023, and are a little more cautious about releasing new cookies. But, since we know there will be two fewer cookies in 2026, it’s safe to say they might be planning to replace them with one or two new varieties next year. Fingers crossed!

When and How Can We Buy Girl Scout Cookies?

You can purchase Girl Scout Cookies January through April, though the exact dates will vary by area. If you don’t know a Girl Scout personally, you can go to the Girl Scout Cookie website to locate cookie booths in your area, or order cookies online that will benefit a local troop.

What Cookies Can We Buy This Year?

There are 12 Girl Scout Cookie varieties available this year, so your area will have some combination of these for sale:

  • Adventurefuls
  • Caramel Chocolate Chip (gluten-free)
  • Caramel deLites/Samoas
  • Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-si-dos
  • Girl Scout S’mores
  • Lemonades
  • Lemon-Ups
  • Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs
  • Thin Mints
  • Toast-Yay!
  • Toffee-tastic
  • Trefoils

If you’re not sure what flavors to get, we recommend the Thin Mints (duh!), Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, and Caramel deLites/Samoas. We will miss the Toast-Yay!, though.
