We don’t know about you, but we’re absolutely overpaying inflation prices on everything. Thankfully, Target seems to have picked up on that consumer weariness because it just announced that it’s lowering prices on thousands of items just in time for the holiday season. Here’s what we know.
Look, we know that Target cares about sales goals and making shareholders happy, which is ultimately why any huge corporation does anything. This is a ploy to get more people in the store and spending for the holiday season, and stay competitive with other stores like Walmart and Costco. But if it means lower prices for us, we’ll take it.
In a press release, Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said: “We know families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is committed to helping them find joy without compromise." That’s a lot of saccharine PR speak, but hey — cheaper stuff.
About 2,000 Target items will have their price lowered. According to the press release, those items run the gamut from food to toys to cough medicine, so you might see a cheaper price on any kind of item you buy at Target regularly. Keep in mind that the prices of products can vary by location, so if you live in a high cost of living area, you might have slightly higher prices across the board.
Prices have already dropped on many items, and the company is touting this as a holiday season special, so it’s safe to say that the new power prices will go into effect soon if they haven’t already. The discounts will continue through December.
Target lowered prices on approximately 8,000 products earlier this year, and this latest round of price cuts is in addition to that one. So “by the end of the holiday season, Target will have lowered prices on over 10,000 items during the year,” according to the press release.
