Starting at age 50 (though AARP membership is open to anyone 18 or older), seniors can cash in on numerous deals just for being born on or before the date required for the bargain. Simply flash an ID to collect on most discounts, although some apply only to AARP members and some are offered only by select chain franchisees. These discounts might make retirement a little more fulfilling.

No need for a coupon at IHOP, another traveler-friendly diner found all across the country. A special menu of pancakes, eggs, and French toast is already discounted for senior diners, starting at age 55. 

This sprawling hotel chain makes discounts on regular room rates at participating hotels "available" to anyone who is 62 or older or has a member ID card for a retired persons organization, but rates vary by location. In the past, the discounts have been as high as 15%. 

Some Jiffy Lube locations offer a senior discount, but each franchisee handles it differently. Call ahead if you're curious about the discount at your nearest location. 

AARP members get 10% off at this seafood chain. The discount does not apply to alcoholic beverages, however. 

Just outside the historic grounds and theme parks of Williamsburg, Virginia, this resort offers AARP members a discount of up to 10%.

Kohl’s is typically a hotbed of sales. Starting at age 60, Kohl's shoppers can show an ID to claim a 15% discount on Wednesdays at this department store chain. 

Like at CVS, a free Rx discount card at Kroger Pharmacy, a participating retail pharmacy of AARP Prescription Discounts provided by OptumRx, saves cardholders on all FDA-approved medications. AARP members save more and receive other benefits.

La Quinta Inns and Suites offers AARP members up to 10% off the best available room rates, as well an a non-AARP discount for those 60+.

AARP members looking for a place to stay on Georgia's historic Tybee Island can get 5% off booking these cottages. 

At this Arizona school, students age 65 and over can take any course for half price, as long as the class is not full. 

This craft retailer sells holiday decorations, cards, calendars, and a variety of unique, inexpensive gifts. Shoppers 55 and older save 10% on Michaels purchases (regular and sale merchandise) every day, with some exclusions.

AARP members can get 10% off the best available nightly rate at this budget chain.

AARP members get a free annual telephone hearing test through this service. 

The bad news is that the $10 lifetime pass for U.S. citizens and residents 62 and over now costs $80, although there's an annual pass for $20. The upside is that you still get into every national park for the rest of your life for that price, and you get discounts on certain amenities.

This Pacific Northwest grocery chain gives shoppers 65 and older a 10% discount every Wednesday.

When you don't want to see food but eat it (these are the kind of jokes you can make once you hit AARP age), this chain offers AARP members a 10% discount.

At Outback Steakhouse, seniors with an AARP membership get a 10% discount off the tab for lunch or dinner, minus alcoholic beverages, as long as the order isn't placed online. Some locations may not participate. 

The offsite airport parking service Park RideFly USA offers AARP members a 12% discount, available at locations nationwide.

AARP members save 5% on on leisure daily, weekly, weekend, and monthly base rates, plus they get a free upgrade on compact through full-size car class bookings.

If you're a senior who enjoys the company of a furry friend, take note. AARP members save up to 10% on Fetch Pet Insurance premiums.

Those 62 and older can audit courses for no credit for free, but can also take certain credited courses for a 50% discount. Even when courses are taken for free, however, fees still apply.

Just about every public transportation system offers some kind of discount for seniors. But in Portland, Oregon, the Trimet public transportation system considers seniors 65+ "honored citizens" who get half-price tickets per trip and pay less than one-third of the price of a monthly pass.  

Quality Inn is another chain where AARP members can save up to 10% off bookings. 

An AARP membership gets you 10% off at the Radisson family of hotels. 

This European rail service offers discounts on rail passes — mainly for first-class seats — in the Balkan states, Great Britain, France, Ireland, and Romania for those 60 and older.

At Ramada Inns, which are part of Wyndham hotels, customers who are also AARP members get up to 10% off their rooms.

Already an economy-priced chain of hotels, AARP members can save even further on rooms at Rodeway — up to 10%, in fact. 

Ross offers 10% off to shoppers 55 and older on Tuesdays when they sign up for the Every Tuesday Club. 

This cruise line occasionally offers special pricing to passengers 55 and over, but it reserves that pricing for specific trips.

This rail tourism service offers a 5% discount to AARP members for train rides and cruises in the United States, Canada, Europe, and other locations. It also provides special offers for seniors and waives booking fees for European travel.

Verizon Wireless currently entitles new customers 55 and older in Florida to save money when they sign up — and autopay — for one line costing $62 or two lines for $84. The plan may roll out other states too.

If you're a senior looking to book a luxury getaway, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, which are now Hilton properties, offers AARP members up to 10% off its best available rates plus late checkout. Sleeping late? Now that's luxury. 

Belong to AARP or hit age 55 and flash a myWalgreen's card at Walgreens for up to 20% off purchases on certain days.
