Pumpkin Spice Treats Have Arrived at These Chain Restaurants Already — But Not Starbucks

With much of the country dealing with recent heat waves and flooding, it doesn't exactly feel like fall is near. But don't tell that to the fast food and chain restaurant industry because they're already rolling out special pumpkin spice menu items.

That's right: It's not even mid-August, and you can get your fill of pumpkin spice. Here’s where you can get cinnamon-fueled pumpkin spice treats at restaurants right now, and thankfully, it's only a few. (Alternatively, feel free to guffaw at these chains instead.)

In case you’ve lived under a rock for the last 20 years, the pumpkin spice craze started when Starbucks released its pumpkin spice latte for the first time in 2003. People went nuts for it, and PSLs popped up pretty much everywhere that serves coffee — not to mention everything else from cereal to ramen to air fresheners.

Fun fact: Starbucks original pumpkin spice latte didn’t have any pumpkin. It was just the spices that typically go into pumpkin pie, like cinnamon, cloves, and allspice, without the orange stuff. It didn’t get real pumpkin until 2015.

IHOP is already aboard the pumpkin spice bandwagon with PS pancakes. But honestly, pancakes are probably one of the best versions of the ubiquitous flavor, so we’re here for this. (If you don’t already put a dash of cinnamon in your pancake mix, you definitely should.) Plus maple syrup on top of PS is a winner.

Krispy Kreme’s pumpkin spice donuts are already available, but weirdly, will only be around for a week. So if you want to try the PS version of the original glazed or cake donuts, you’ll need to nab one before August 17. You think they mixed up August and September?

The chain’s pumpkin spice lattes and coffees, however, will stick around throughout the fall season.

In a total darkhorse entry, Jack in the Box has a pumpkin spice menu item, and it’s already available. Pumpkin spice mini churros sound pretty delicious, with bite-sized pieces of churro filled with pumpkin spice cream and tossed in cinnamon sugar.

If you only have eyes for Starbucks during PSL season, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to get your fix. This year, it’ll return to stores across the country on August 26, 2025. That’s a little bit later than last year’s August 22 release date.
