Pizza Relief

Is there a phrase better to hear on a busy weeknight than “free pizza”? We don’t think so, and neither does Domino’s. They’re giving customers free “emergency” pizzas, for when life is kind of rough and you need some food fast. The chain ran this promotion last fall and winter, and apparently it was a big enough success to bring it back. Here’s everything you need to know about getting a free pizza yourself.

1. Why Is Domino’s Giving Away Free Pizza?

Well, according to the FAQ on Domino’s Emergency Pizza website, “there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now and we know Domino’s customers could use a pick-me-up.” That’s nice and all, but we’re guessing they hope people order a lot of other stuff with their free pizza.

2. What Is a Domino’s Emergency Pizza?

Domino’s Emergency Pizza is a free two-topping medium pizza. If you’re a fan of the Handmade Pan style pizzas (and we are!), then you can upgrade your free pizza to a medium Handmade Pan for an additional charge instead.

3. How Do I Get My Free Domino’s Emergency Pizza?

To get a free Emergency Pizza, first you need to place a delivery order online or a digital carryout order of $7.99 or more. Then, make sure you’re a Domino’s Rewards member (you can sign up if you don’t already have an account). Finally, once your qualifying order is confirmed, the free Emergency Pizza will automatically appear in the “My Deals & Rewards” section of your Rewards account.

4. What’s the Catch?

There’s always a catch, and this deal has plenty of them. You have to make a purchase equivalent to a pizza in order to get a free one. Plus, you have to be a member of Domino’s loyalty program, which some people may not be happy about. On top of all that, you can only earn one free Emergency Pizza during the promotion period, and you have a limited amount of time to claim it. Lame.

5. How Long Can I Get Free Pizza?

The promotion runs now through Jan. 19, 2025. So if you plan on ordering Domino’s during that time, you might as well get a free pizza out of it.

Here’s the big thing to remember, though: You have only 30 days to redeem your free Emergency Pizza. So if you forget about it for 31 days, you’re out of luck. Set a reminder on your phone before your 30 days are up.

6. Are There Any Dates I Can’t Redeem My Free Pizza?

One more catch: There’s blackout dates for redeeming your free Emergency Pizza. You can’t redeem it on Halloween (Oct. 31) or New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), which are probably two of the busiest pizza days of the year for the chain.
