Airstream Dreams

Airstream RVs, with their sleek design and futuristic yet retro vibes, have never gone out of style. Fans looking to take their RVs up a notch can customize their rides, transforming a bland interior to something spectacular. Here are a few Airstream RVs that will make you want to hit the road behind these sleek wheels.

Solstice Stream RV exterior
Perpetually Devastated

Solstice Stream

This renovation took a full year (summer solstice to summer solstice), and the hard work committed to this project shows. While the exterior is classic Airstream style, natural materials — wood, cork, stone, wool, and linen — are used throughout, and there are luxury stainless steel appliances and fixtures inside.

In addition to soft close doors throughout, the other standout is the center bathroom. It has white honeycomb tile, birch walls, and a marbled white and gray countertop. Another great detail: rose gold trim.

Anza Exterior RV

Anza

This 1968 Airstream is more than 50 years old, and was remodeled into a warm, desert-inspired space. The outside was made to sparkle, too.

It took more than six months to rehab this trailer, but a lot of thought went into details like tiled flooring in the bathroom (which couldn't be too heavy and impede travel), arched doorways, and the sink and faucet combinations.

California DreamStream

Timeless Travel Trailers renovated this 2018 33-foot Airstream factory shell in collaboration with interior designer Alison Kandler. While the result is retro cool, it has very modern conveniences like a 49-inch Apple TV in the living room and a control system that uses an iPad.

The design of this trailer is playful retro kitsch, from the SMEG refrigerator, curved archways, and fun floral flooring to the diner-like stainless steel backsplash in the kitchen. Even the red and orange pillows on the couch have a '70s appeal.

Airstream Excelsior
Perpetually Devastated

Airstream Excella

This custom-built beauty has a farmhouse vibe inside, but outside it's urban sleek chic. It's painted with custom Mercedes Benz exterior paint, making it look a little more up-to-date than the classic, shiny Airstream. It also has a raised ceiling and 12 skylights, plus a 180-inch awning.

This Airstream is luxurious by any definition. There's German hardwood flooring, a handmade leather couch, maple-stained table tops, a custom latex foam queen mattress, and a platform bed with storage underneath.

Monty Airstream Exterior
Perpetually Devastated

The Monty

Custom builders Perpetually Devastated remodeled this 1968 Airstream Overlander. The owners wanted it to feel cozy and cabin-like inside, though the exterior is pretty close to a classic Airstream.

What may stand out the most in The Monty is the Arts and Crafts styling, which pops up in penny tile, sofa coverings, and rugs. Some of the most eye-catching details are the hammered copper countertops, hickory-wrapped interiors, and a mosaic-tiled bathroom.

Dried Poppy RV Door
Perpetually Devastated

Dancing Queen

Another redesign by Perpetually Devastated, this groovy, disco-themed Airstream is both cozy (it's only 286 square feet) and fun. While it's not an outside-facing feature, the dried poppy door to the bathroom is a standout detail.

Not only is the use of color a playful feature (the rug in front of the brass kitchen sink is a showstopper), the lengthy corridor gives the owner enough space to begin her day with a blast of music and some dancing.

Remodelista

1968 Overlander

When two furniture designers from the brand Casamidy lucked into an old Airstream, they brought it into the 21st century with lots of style and some olive green paint. When not on the road, El Cornichon, as it’s known — "because it’s a little pickle" — is parked outside the family ranch in Mexico.

The back wall closet and bathroom door are made of iron inset with stitched leather. Saddlebags hanging on the wall store pajamas while old suitcases store shoes and clothes.

1965 Airstream Safari exterior
Perpetually Devastated

1965 Airstream Safari

This tiny (it's just 175 square feet inside) trailer had a big job. The owner wanted to take it to state parks across the country while incorporating a light, airy interior and Moroccan design.

The fun green molding and light blue cabinets make the inside light and bright, while lighting fixtures and a brass sink keep things earthy.
