There aren't many fast food establishments that Texans hold more near and dear than Whataburger. The chain, which has nearly 1,000 locations across Texas and the South, is known for its titular burgers, spicy ketchup, and other specialties. As for how to manipulate the menu to take substantial creative liberties? We’ve got you. Here are eight Whataburger menu hacks.

Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich

  • Order the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich.

  • Sub the honey butter for honey BBQ sauce.

The Monterey Melt

Though this was once a part of Whataburger’s regular menu, it’s now a DIY project.

  • Order a burger with two patties, Monterey Jack cheese, and American cheese.

  • Add grilled peppers and onions.

  • Finish ‘er off with jalapeño ranch sauce.

Secret Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Whataburger’s got Texas toast. It’s also got cheese. Ask them to griddle it up for you — it’ll run you less than two bucks.

Breakfast Ranchero Sandwich

  • Start with Breakfast on a Bun.

  • Add picante sauce and jalapeños.

The Triple Triple

Look at poor Whataburger pretending it’s In-N-Out. Keep dreaming, sweetheart.

  • Order a burger with three beef patties and three slices of cheese between each.

  • Reflect on how unnecessary this is.

Chicken and Pancakes

This chicken and waffles dupe is time-specific, so you need to grab it during breakfast hours: 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.

  • Order chicken strips.

  • Order pancakes.

  • Put them on the same plate.

  • Congratulations, you’re a chef.

Fish Tacos

I have to tell you, this sounds semi-legit to me. Usually these secret menu items are pure nonsense (looking at you, Land, Sea, and Air Burger), but this sounds like it might really simulate a fish taco.

  • Order the WhataCatch fish sandwich.

  • Swap the tartar sauce for creamy pepper sauce.

  • Add shredded cheese and a little bit of picante sauce.

Veggie Burger

I’m not sure we can call this a burger, but I have to tell you, it sounds like it bangs.

  • Order a burger with all of your favorite fixins, but ask them to sub the meat for a hash brown patty.
