Best: Ginger Peach

Hey now! I really thought I was gonna hate this. I know, I know, I need to stop doing that. The peach flavor is big and bright, and there’s a gorgeous hint of ginger. Peach is never first in my mind when I think about great-tasting beverages, but Good & Gather's version is delicious. It’s nice to knock back a sweet drink like this without the fear of high fructose corn syrup.

3. Tropical Cherry

Cherry is usually a toss-up. If it leans into red cherry flavor, it can become too sugary and artificial. When it falls towards black cherry, it can taste like soda. Good & Gather’s Tropical Cherry feels like neither, with plenty of citrusy, lemon, and lime flavors to help round it out. I’m into this.

4. Yuzu Mandarin

I have to respect Target’s sparkling water team for a flavor like this. As a person who has sampled a shocking amount of carbonated water, yuzu is a flavor that almost never shows up. It’s well-integrated with mandarin flavor in this one, and though mandarin-infused drinks often tastes like the bitter peel of an orange, this doesn’t at all. I love it.

5. Pomegranate Dragon Fruit

This is tasty. I expected a lot more punch out of the dragon fruit, but it’s actually nice and chill. I’d certainly agree this is an equal partnership between pomegranate and dragon fruit. If you’re attracted to red fruit flavors, this is for you.

6. Pear Hibiscus

This is one of the most unique flavors I’ve tasted in any sparkling water. It’s about a 70/30 split in favor of pear, and I think that’s the perfect ratio. The 35mg of caffeine is a nice bonus for morning seltzer-drinkers.

cranberry citrus good and gather sparkling water

7. Cranberry Citrus

It’s hard to distinguish the flavors of orange or cranberry in this drink, but I don’t care. It's nice and simple — probably the most subtle flavor out of all of Good & Gather's sparkling waters.

8. Raspberry Hibiscus

This is solid. Once again, the hibiscus is kept under control — raspberry is the star of the show here, and that’s fine. Though the flavor starts strong, it dissipates quickly, and all you’re left with is satisfying carbonation.

watermelon lime good and gather sparkling water

9. Watermelon Lime

I’m pretty sure this is the most balanced watermleon-lime seltzer that I’ve had. There’s just as much watermelon as lime to be tasted here. I suppose at the end of the day I just don’t love watermelon artificial flavor — it reminds me of candy. It’d be nice if somebody made a watermelon seltzer that tasted like an actual watermelon.

cucumber mint good and gather sparkling water

10. Cucumber Mint

$3.29 for an eight-pack from Target

This drink is like Coca-Cola; I like the idea of it more than I actually like it. Cucumber is a terrific base flavor, but the mint is cranked up to 11 and it’s all you can taste at the end of every sip.

mixed berry good and gather sparkling water

11. Mixed Berry

Though Cranberry Citrus might win the “subtlety” award, Mixed Berry wins the “nothing at all” award. I can barely make out the taste of berries, and with other options that feature raspberries, pomegranates, and strawberries, this feels like it doesn’t belong.

Mango, mango, mango. What are we going to do with you? It seems like you are always the weak link. Be it alcoholic or alcohol-free, mango seltzies just never seem to land for me. This reminds me of the tropical fruit juice I used to drink as a kid — the kind I drank when I was wishing for regular OJ.
