Still have some fall candles lingering around the house? You'd better double-check to see if any are from Walmart, because more than 1.2 million Mainstays candles have been recalled for being a fire hazard.

There have been a dozen reports that the glass jars holding the Mainstays Three-Wick Candles, which are made by the redundantly named company Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle, have cracked because the wicks burn too close to the side of the container. It's resulted in property damage, one injury, and one fire, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.


How to Know if Your Candle Has Been Recalled

Was it purchased from Walmart between September and November 2022?


Does it have three wicks?


Is it in a 14-ounce jar with one of these Halloween or autumn-themed labels?

If you have one of the recalled candles, the CPSC advises that you stop using it immediately. You can obtain a refund directly from the manufacturer on the website it set up for the recall. Be sure you don't throw away your candle until after you obtain your refund.
