Amazon seems to have the upper hand on all things online, but don't be so quick to assume it's considered the best at everything. When online grocery shoppers were asked about their preferred shopping sites, the one that came out on top wasn't Amazon, according to a report from Chicory, an ecommerce technology company.

Chicory's survey of 1,000 U.S. consumers showed that though Amazon brands took second place with Amazon Fresh and 10th with Whole Foods Market, customers picked Walmart for the top spot. Other Top 10 performers were:

  • 3. Aldi
  • 4. Kroger (also includes Ralphs, Harris Teeter, Dillons, Smith’s, King Soopers, Fry’s, QFC, City Market, Owen’s, Jay C, Baker’s, Gerbes, Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market, and Mariano’s)
  • 5. Costco
  • 6. Albertsons (also includes Safeway, Randalls, Shaw’s, Star Market, and United Supermarkets)
  • 7. Ahold Delhaize USA (Food Lion, Giant, Stop & Shop, Hannaford, and Fresh Direct)
  • 8. Target
  • 9. H-E-B
