As if being sick isn't enough of an inconvenience in and of itself, illnesses always seem to creep up and hit you out of nowhere at the most inopportune times, often when the pharmacy is no longer open. Thankfully, a new service from Walgreens may now be able to help with those inconvenient occasions.

Maybe you woke up in the middle of the night because your nose was stuffy, only to discover that you don't have any nasal spray on hand. Perhaps you popped the last cough drop in your mouth at midnight and that 3 a.m. coughing fit is standing directly in the way of you and a good night's sleep. You might not even be sick. You could be a new parent who doesn't want to load your baby up at night to trek to the store and replenish diapers. There are seemingly endless situations in which a round-the-clock pharmacy delivery service would come in handy, and Walgreens is stepping up to answer that call.

Walgreens already offers hundreds of locations that are open 24 hours a day, but the pharmacy is opening itself up to round-the-clock delivery services to bring shoppers more convenience. Nearly 400 locations will offer the new service, which allows shoppers to order more than 27,000 items from health and wellness products to household essentials and groceries, delivered to their door at any hour. The service does have a few exclusions to keep in mind including prescriptions, alcohol, gift cards, and photo products.

Walgreens shoppers can access the new 24/7 service by selecting the same-day delivery option on the pharmacy's app or website. Orders will be fulfilled by Walgreens employees and delivered by DoorDash or Uber Eats. Delivery costs vary by location, but through Dec. 10, customers who place orders costing at least $20 can get free delivery with the code NOW20.
