While many retailers are closing stores or going out of business completely (we're looking at you, Joann), some are bucking the trend and opening new locations. TJ Maxx is one of those outliers and has plans to open new locations across the country this month.
Here's where they're opening, and when you can head to their grand openings.
TJ Maxx is what the industry calls an “off-price” retailer. That means it purchases its merchandise for cheap, and sells it at a discount. As prices on everything from clothing to groceries continue to soar thanks to tariffs and inflation, people will probably head to discount stores more often.
The brand is so successful right now that it announced plans in May to add 1,300 new stores worldwide in the future.
TJ Maxx (and its sister stores, HomeGoods and Marshall’s) buys merchandise opportunistically. That means that every time you go into a store, you’ll find new things because there is no set line of products.
Most people go to TJ Maxx looking for deals on clothing and accessories, handbags and luggage, beauty items, kitchen and housewares, and seasonal decor. There’s even a gourmet foods section which people swear by for cheap trendy foods.
All of the currently announced new TJ Maxx locations will be opening in August 2025. There’s no word on the timeline for those 1,300 new stores, but we’re guessing those are long term goals, so don’t get too excited yet.
