$5 Footlong

Subway’s been dabbling in foot long foods for a while now, and there’s been everything from 12-inch cookies to cheese roll ups. But their latest creation seems like a big departure from anything else the sandwich chain offers: Doritos Footlong Nachos. We had questions, and you probably do, too. Here’s what we know, along with how to get an order free.

What the Heck are Doritos Footlong Nachos?

Well, according to Subway, they’re a “delicious culinary innovation.” We’re not so sure (though April 20 is coming up soon…). They’re a bed of Nacho Cheese Doritos chips in a skinny, foot-long paper boat with nacho toppings. A press release calls them a snack, but that seems like a more substantial meal to us.

What Comes on Footlong Nachos?

On top of the bright orange Doritos, your sandwich (nacho?) artist will pile on cheddar cheese sauce, shredded monterrey jack cheese, red onions, diced tomatoes, jalapeno slices, and a drizzle of Baja Chipotle sauce. One meat topping is included, and you can choose from either steak or rotisserie style chicken. If you want a scoop of avocado mash, you can get it, but it’ll be an extra charge. Presumably, you can just tell them you want black olives or green peppers or whatever and they’ll just throw it on, too.

OK I’m Intrigued; How Much Are They?

Remember the good old days of $5 Footlongs? That time is back, at least if all you want is Subway’s take on nachos. Doritos Footlong Nachos are $5. Depending on how much they load into one of those 12-inch paper boats, it could be worth $5.

I’m Not Paying $5 For That

Yeah, we feel you on that one, and perhaps Subway was anticipating that too. You can try Doritos Footlong Nachos for free on Thursday, April 10, when you purchase any other foot long sub. You have to be a member of the chain’s rewards program and redeem the reward in the mobile app. Somebody should have told them to offer the deal on April 20, instead.
