Sam's Club Gyro Kit Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns

Is anything safe to eat at the grocery store anymore? The latest recall affects a popular gyro meal kit, according to a recall notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Here’s what we know, including how to get a refund.

Beef & Lamb Gyro Sandwich Express Meal Kits made by Fresh Creative Farms are being recalled because the cucumbers in the tzatziki sauce may be contaminated with salmonella. The cucumbers came from Baloian Farms of Arizona Co. and have been recalled separately. They were sourced from a farm in Mexico that has been connected to a salmonella outbreak that’s sickened at least 70 people so far.  

The Beef & Lamb Gyro Sandwich Express Meal Kits were sold only at Sam’s Clubs. They were distributed nationwide, and you’d find them in the refrigerated section with other heat-and-eat products.  

The recalled gyro kits have a use by date of 12/24/2024 through 1/6/2025, which means that many people probably still have the product in their fridge. The kits include gyro meat, pitas, tzatziki sauce, fire feta sauce, and feta cheese crumbles. The UPC of the recalled kit is 0-13454-38313-1.  

The FDA is advising anyone who has the recalled gyro kit to not consume any of it, even though it’s the tzatziki that appears to be the problem. You can return the kit to Sam’s Club to get a full refund, even if you’re not sure if the product you have is recalled or if you threw away the product.
