Classic cars provide a chance to hold history in your hands. And you don't have to be a devoted collector or a celebrity with a garage full of expensive cars to take one for a spin yourself or be chauffeured by a knowledgeable driver. Where: Cities in the U.S., Canada, and U.K.

The world’s largest car-sharing marketplace, Turo, offers classic car rental options for wedding days, photo shoots, or special occasions such as a birthday or anniversary around 11 U.S. cities from Atlanta to Boston. Popular models include 1960s Ford Mustangs, 1970s Chevrolet Corvettes, and the Porsche 911 introduced in 1964. Drivers must be 30 or older in most cases to book specialty cars, starting at around $135 a day.

DriveShare is another car-sharing community offering rentals directly from owners for drivers 25 and older with a valid driver’s license, credit card, and proof of insurance.
