Think of Walmart+ like Amazon Prime — as a premium delivery service with perks. Those benefits include:

Free shipping and delivery

In an effort to compete with Amazon, Walmart is offering its Plus members free shipping and delivery on everything from groceries to electronics and home goods. Whereas orders placed at local Walmart stores have a $35 minimum, even small products ship for free from Walmart's online store. Next-day, two-day, and standard-shipping are included in the plan, and same-day shipping is available for some products at your local Walmart. That said, members still have to pay a $10 Express Delivery fee if they want to ensure an item's arrival in two hours.

Gasoline discounts

At participating gas stations, Walmart+ members can save up to 10 cents per gallon on gasoline, with the option to fill up at Sam's Club locations. Although Walmart boasts 14,000 participating gas stations, consumers who don't live in major metros may find it difficult to find affiliated filling stations. Mobile scan & go

Like its subsidiary Sam's Club, Walmart offers Plus members the option to skip long lines with the scan & go feature on Walmart's mobile app. All you have to do is scan the products in your cart, pay with your card, and walk out the door.

Paramount+ Essential

Walmart+ members get access to Paramount's ad-supported streaming tier, a value of $5 a month or $50 a year. 

Spotify Premium

For a limited time, Walmart+ members can also stream music and podcasts on Spotify Premium free for six months — a $59 value.

Walmart rewards
Eligible purchases you make in Walmart stores and online will rack up rewards dollars that can be put toward future Walmart purchases. For an idea of a typical reward: A $17 container of Gain laundry detergent yields $3 in rewards.

Early access to deals

Walmart+ members gain access to deals before normal shoppers, including early access to all Black Friday sale items.

How Much Does Walmart+ Cost?

Walmart+ costs $13 a month, or $98 a year. That's cheaper than Amazon Prime and Instacart Express, and around the same price as Shipt's membership. If you do sign up for Walmart+ and plan to use it, it's worth paying the $98 upfront; it will save you $58 compared with a monthly payment plan.

What Do Subscribers Say About Walmart+?

Walmart+ reviews on Reddit are largely positive, with members praising the included Paramount+ subscription, scan & go feature, gas savings, free grocery shipping, and exclusive deals. Walmart's lack of fees and consistent pricing were also highlights among members, who said that the retailer's service is cheaper than competitors such as Instacart and Shipt.

"I tried it on a whim and have had most of my groceries delivered the last few months. I feel like each delivery saved me at least an hour of time," one Redditor wrote, adding that they used a Walmart+ exclusive deal to snag a coveted PlayStation 5.

Some subscribers complained about Walmart+'s delivery service, though, calling it not as fast or reliable as Amazon. 

Is Walmart Plus Worth It?

Thanks to its wide range of benefits, Walmart+ is a worthy competitor in the Amazon-dominated ecommerce industry, offering two popular streaming services, free deliveries, and a host of convenient, money-saving perks. If you already have Paramount+ and Spotify subscriptions, signing up for Walmart+ is a no-brainer: You'll save on subscription fees while reaping additional benefits such as free grocery delivery.

That said, Walmart+ might not be worth it for Amazon Prime users who don't shop at or live near a Walmart. Although Amazon Prime is pricier at $15 a month or $139 a year, its benefits are equally impressive given its large library of movies, television shows, music, and its unparalleled shipping reliability. In short, Walmart+ is worth it for superfans who shop regularly at the retailer and take advantage of its many benefits.
