As November 23 nears, some of us have started to plan not only our holiday meals, but also the home improvement projects to tackle over Thanksgiving weekend. Lowe's is a popular destination for DIY and repair needs, offering tools, decorations, and home improvement items.
But is Lowe's even open on Thanksgiving? Here's all the information you need to plan your Lowe's shopping trip and get your home ready (or repaired) by the holiday.
Is Lowe’s Open on Thanksgiving 2023?
If you were hoping to pick up some last-minute items at Lowe’s on Thanksgiving Day, you’re out of luck: Lowe’s isn't open on Thanksgiving. According to Country Living, a Lowe’s spokesperson shared that "Our stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, as they have been in years past, to ensure our customers and associates have time to enjoy special time at home with their loved ones."
The chain is joined by the likes of other retailers that are closed on Thanksgiving — retailers like Target and Walmart, both of which shutter on Turkey Day.
Planning Ahead
If you find that you're battling a broken toilet without a plunger or a leaky dishwasher on Thanksgiving Day, don't panic. Even though Lowe's will be closed, you can still call an emergency electrician or plumber, or make a trip to a hardware store that might be operating with limited hours.
Another way to plan ahead? Make sure you take inventory of all the things you need in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, and stock up on supplies at Lowe's before Thanksgiving.

Black Friday at Lowe’s
Just because Lowe’s is closed on Thanksgiving doesn’t mean the company isn't participating in Black Friday. The home improvement store opens bright and early on the shopping holiday — held this year on November 24 — with significant sales and deals to kick off the holiday shopping season. If you miss out on shopping on Thanksgiving, you can catch up on Black Friday.

The Bottom Line
While you may need to adjust your plans if you were hoping to shop at Lowe's on Thanksgiving Day, there are still plenty of opportunities for savings and project planning. Remember to check your local store's schedule, and to take advantage of the online deals that might be available on Thanksgiving Day itself. Whether you're prepping for guests or making home improvements, Lowe's can offer an assist — just after their employees have had the chance to celebrate Thanksgiving with their friends and family.
