If you used Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits to purchase groceries via Instacart within the last six months using an electronic benefit transfer card, the grocery delivery service is offering a tantalizing deal: A yearlong Instacart+ membership for half price. Shoppers who use their SNAP benefits when shopping with Instacart can purchase an annual membership for just $5 a month.

The discounted membership offers SNAP shoppers who spend $35 or more free pickup or delivery, plus a 5% credit for pickup orders, and a price break on service fees. The discount is the service's way of providing some financial relief to low-income shoppers struggling to afford (and find) healthy food as inflation continues to take a toll on grocery bills.

Instacart says of the more than 30 million U.S. consumers struggling with nutrition insecurity, it can reach about 95% of them through its retail partners that accept SNAP payments.
