Iconic Musicians Who Are Back on the Road This Year

It’s summer, which means concert fans can look forward to their favorite acts back on the stage all season long. With renowned rockers performing everywhere from small, intimate gigs to massively filled stadiums, there are so many big names touring this year that it’s nearly impossible to list them all. These are some of the most hotly anticipated shows of the summer from legendary rockers.

Bruce Springsteen

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one with endless tour dates. Bruce Springsteen is back and touring the world for the next year. Springsteen starts his sojourn in Sweden in early July, and hits various cities in Europe and the United States before wrapping up in Milan in July 2025.

Pearl Jam is in the midst of an already nearly sold-out world tour. They’ll be playing hits from the past as well as their newest album, Dark Matter well into fall. There will be multiple dates at Madison Square Garden in New York, as well as a series of shows in Boston, Philadelphia, New Zealand and Australia, where the tour ends on November 23rd.

Would it really be summer without the Beach Boys celebrating the season? Mike Love’s band does not include original members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, but the music lives on. The tour kicks off July 12 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and goes through November, ending in Niagara Falls.

Robert Plant is joining efforts with Allison Kraus, a favorite musical partner, to travel the world for a number of dates throughout the summer. The music starts in Southend-On-Sea, England, on July 23rd, and continues until October 23rd in Brescia, with stops in the United States along the way.

Country legend Nelson has enlisted a number of top names to join for his 2024 Outlaw Music Festival Tour this summer. John Mellencamp, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and legendary Bob Dylan will join for selected dates for the tour, which goes through  September 17 in Buffalo, New York. 


Foreigner

Foreigner will be touring with Styx starting this summer in Nashville, with dates throughout the United States until November. The band then takes a break until putting on some additional shows in June 2025, one of which will be at the Hard Rock Live in Sacramento.


Def Leppard

Def Leppard is back for the summer of 2024 with co-headliners Journey for a blast from the rock past. Other special guests include The Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick on various dates throughout the gig. The tour starts mid-July in Atlanta and ends September 10th in West Valley City, Utah.

Band members Michael McDonald  and Tom Johnston will be back with the band this season with gigs going from July to mid October, ending with a number of dates in Canada. Steve Winwood and Robert Cray will make special guest appearances at various points during the tour.

Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters will be hitting large venues all summer, including Citi Field on July 19th and Fenway Stadium on July 21st. The grunge-inspired rockers will be joined along the way by The Pretenders and The Hives.


Santana

Santana will start the summer in Bethel, New York on July 14th with shows every week the rest of the summer around the country. By the end of September the musician will take up residency at the House of Blues in Las Vegas until early November.


Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers will be playing a series of mostly sold-out shows this summer  until they wrap their tour up July 30th in St. Louis. Some stops include the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival and Harley-Davidson Homecoming festival.

Icon Stevie Nicks is only playing a handful of European gigs over the summer months, with shows in Manchester, Amsterdam, and Glasgow. But she'll be back in the United States at the end of September for a couple shows in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The heavy metal band toured the world in 2023, and are back for more this summer, with stops that include Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Canada. They’ll conclude the gig at the end of September in Mexico City.

Benatar is back this summer with husband Neil Giraldo and will be hitting venues across the country. The tour kicks off in Prior Lake, MN on July 12, and continues with various stops in New York, California, and other states until concluding August 16th in Washington.

Costello is hitting the road this summer with buddy Daryl Hall of the eponymous Hall & Oates. The two collaborated together on the 1984 song “The Only Flame In Town”  so they go way back. The tour starts on the East Coast in July and makes its way to Ireland by October.

Alanis Morisette hasn’t toured since 2021, and is back this summer with Joan Jett and Morgan Wade for the Triple Moon Tour. Shows kick off  July 13 in Toronto and go through September, with multiple dates on the west coast and midwest.

Legendary Alice Cooper’s hard rock hits the roads in mid July in the Netherlands, and goes through February 2025 with shows all over Europe and the United States. Cooper will be joined by fellow hardcore rocker Rob Zombie for a number of the dates.


Green Day

You can’t get more mid 90’s than Green Day touring with Smashing Pumpkins, so Gen Xers will be thrilled to catch the bands also touring with Rancid and The Linda Lindas this year. Green Day will be playing from albums Dookie and American Idiot from July 29 in D.C. all the way to Dubai in January ‘25.

It’s a 90’s blast to the past when Weezer’s tour kicks off in September with the Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. as guest performers. The tour goes through mid October, with stops throughout the country. Some shows, including those in Colorado and California, are already sold out.


New Kids On The Block

No eye-rolling allowed — say what you want about the now aging boy band, but NKOTB still has devoted fans who have been hotly anticipating their Magic Summer tour all year. Special guests Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff join the band as they hit multiple cities, culminating on August 25th in Indiana.
