The postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo kicked off with the Olympics opening ceremony on July 23 at 7 p.m. Tokyo time. After a year’s delay, the Olympics finally got underway. The 2020 Olympics were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is still a part of our lives in 2021, so there will be no spectators during the Summer Games because of rising cases. The Olympians from the countries participating also wore masks during the opening ceremony.
Athletes from countries from around the world made their way across the Tokyo stage waving their flags. WNBA star Sue Bird and baseball star Eddy Alvarez will be Team USA’s official flag bearers during the Olympics opening ceremony. Ralph Lauren designed Team USA’s gorgeous opening ceremony outfits, which include a navy blue blazer, navy blue striped shirt, stars-and-stripes ascot, blue denim pants, and red, white, and blue sneakers.
