Many stars have played the role of Cinderella over the years. There have been many adapations both on television and in film. Camila Cabello is now the latest celebrity to put on those iconic glass slippers, as she stars in the 2021 romantic musical film based on the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault. It’s being released on Amazon Prime Video, and fans are so excited to see Camila take on the role. Especially since so many actresses like Brandy Norwood, Anne Hathaway, Anna Kendrick and Hilary Duff have done so before her. Brandy Norwood In ‘Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.’

Brandy Norwood played Cinderella in 1997’s ‘Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.’ It was an American musical fantasy television film produced by Walt Disney Television, directed by Robert Iscove and written by Robert L. Freedman. Based on the French fairy tale by Charles Perrault, the film is the second remake and third version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, which originally aired on television in 1957. Adapted from Oscar Hammerstein II’s book, Freedman modernized the script to appeal to more contemporary audiences by updating its themes, particularly re-writing its main character into a stronger heroine. Co-produced by Whitney Houston, who also appears as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, the film stars Brandy in the titular role and features a racially diverse cast consisting of Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, Veanne Cox, Natalie Desselle, Victor Garber and Paolo Montalban.

Hilary Duff In ‘A Cinderella Story’

Hilary Duff took on the iconic role of Cinderella in ‘A Cinderella Story.’ It was a 2004 American teen romantic comedy film directed by Mark Rosman, written by Leigh Dunlap and starring Hilary Duff, Chad Michael Murray, Jennifer Coolidge and Regina King. A modernization of the classic Cinderella folklore, the film’s plot revolves around two Internet pen pals who plan to meet in person at their high school’s Halloween dance.

Anna Kendrick In ‘Into The Woods’

‘Into the Woods’ is a 2014 American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall, and adapted to the screen by James Lapine from his and Stephen Sondheim’s 1986 Broadway musical of the same name. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, it features an ensemble cast that includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, MacKenzie Mauzy, Billy Magnussen, and Johnny Depp. Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, and ‘Rapunzel’, the film is centered on a childless couple who set out to end a curse placed on them by a vengeful witch. Ultimately, the characters are forced to experience the unintended consequences of their actions.

Anne Hathaway In ‘Ella Enchanted’

‘Ella Enchanted’ is a 2004 romantic comedy film directed by Tommy O’Haver and written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, loosely based on Gail Carson Levine’s 1997 novel of the same name. Starring Anne Hathaway and Hugh Dancy, the fantastical film plays with the usual fairy tale genre.

Lily James In ‘Cinderella’

‘Cinderella’ is a 2015 romantic fantasy film directed by Kenneth Branagh, with a screenplay written by Chris Weitz, and co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Kinberg Genre, Allison Shearmur Productions, and Beagle Pug Films. The film is based on the folk tale and is a live action adaptation of Walt Disney’s 1950 animated film of the same name. It features Lily James as the title character, alongside Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Camila Cabello In ‘Cinderella’

‘Cinderella’ is a 2021 romantic musical film based on the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault. Written and directed by Kay Cannon, it stars singer Camila Cabello as the title character in her acting debut, alongside Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, Billy Porter, and Pierce Brosnan. It is a jukebox musical, with several original songs in addition to pop and rock hits from previous decades. It is the first live action remake since the Walt Disney Company’s 2015 ‘Cinderella’.
