Camila Cabello is ‘Cinderella’
Camila Cabello stars in a new iteration of the beloved fairtytale, Cinderella, directed by Kay Cannon. The Amazon Prime movie follows Camila as a fashion-loving Cinderella, who has big dreams to become a designer and sell her stunning dresses. However, she remains banished in the basement by her stepmother, Vivian (Idina Menzel), who is also trying to marry her off to a wealthy, but creepy merchant.
In this version of Cinderella, female empowerment and women’s choice is at the forefront. The traditional ‘evil stepsisters’ played by Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer, aren’t as “evil” or “dumb” as they’re typically portrayed. Similarly, Vivian isn’t as harsh as in other Cinderella iterations, and viewers are given some of her backstory to find out why she is the way she is.
Also starring Billy Porter, Nicholas Galitzine, James Corden, Pierce Bronson and Minnie Driver, Cinderella features beloved music from Queen, Ed Sheeran, Janet Jackson, and a new original from Camila, herself.
