The Cast of ‘American Horror Story’: Then and Now

Evan Peters

‘American Horror Story’ returns for its milestone 10th season on August 25. The new season’s theme is ‘Double Feature’ and will feature two stories in one season. ‘AHS’ premiered in 2011 with ‘Murder House.’ The show became an instant hit, sparking new themes every single season.


Evan Peters will be returning for ‘American Horror Story’ season 10. Evan and Sarah Paulson are the ultimate ‘AHS’ vets, having appeared in every single season of the show except season 9. Evan will be playing Austin Sommers in ‘Double Feature.’ His first-ever ‘AHS’ was Tate Langdon in season 1.


His other memorable characters include Kit Walker in ‘Asylum’ and Mr. March in ‘Hotel.’ In 2018, Evan reprised the role of Tate in an episode of ‘Apocalypse.’ In addition to ‘American Horror Story,’ Evan has also starred in other TV series like ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Mare of Easttown.’ See more of the ‘American Horror Story’ season 1 cast then and now in our gallery.

Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange started her ‘American Horror Story’ journey as Constance Langdon in season 1. She won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie in 2012 for her performance as Constance. She starred in every season through season 4. Jessica reprised the role of Constance for two episodes of ‘Apocalypse.’ The Oscar winner most recently played Dusty Jackson in season 1 of ‘The Politician.’

Dylan McDermott

Dylan McDermott played Dr. Ben Harmon on ‘Murder House.’ He returned for season 2 — ‘Asylum’ — and played Johnny Morgan. He took a break from ‘AHS’ until season 9 when he played a hitchhiking serial killer in ‘1984.’ He starred in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix miniseries ‘Hollywood’ and currently stars on ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime.’ He recently reprised the role of Ben Harmon in an episode of ‘American Horror Stories.'

Connie Britton

Connie Britton starred as Vivien Harmon in the first season ‘American Horror Story.’ She was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. Connie hasn’t appeared in any other season of ‘American Horror Story’ except ‘Apocalypse’ when she reprised the role of Vivien Harmon. She most recently starred in the hit HBO series ‘The White Lotus.’

Taissa Farmiga

Taissa Farmiga starred as Violet Langdon on ‘American Horror Story: Murder House.’ She returned for ‘AHS: Coven,’ which was the show’s third season. Taissa appeared in one episode of ‘Roanoke’ before returning for multiple episodes of ‘Apocalypse,’ the show’s eighth season. She reprised the roles of ‘Coven’s Zoe and ‘Murder House’s Violet on ‘Apocalypse.’ She’ll next be seen in the HBO series ‘The Gilded Age.’

Alexandra Breckenridge

Alexandra Breckenridge played young Moira on ‘American Horror Story.’ She returned to ‘AHS’ to play Kaylee in season 3. Since then, Alexandra has notably played Sophie on ‘This Is Us’ and currently stars as Mel in the hit Netflix series ‘Virgin River.’

Frances Conroy

Frances Conroy played the older version of Moira in the first season of ‘American Horror Story.’ She has also appeared in ‘Asylum,’ ‘Coven,’ ‘Freak Show,’ ‘Roanoke,’ ‘Cult,’ and ‘Apocalypse.’ Frances is set to play Belle Noir in ‘American Horror Story: Double Feature,’ the show’s 10th season.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson made a brief appearance in ‘American Horror Story’ season 1 as Billie Dean Howard. She went on to star in every single season until ‘AHS: 1984.’ Sarah and Evan Peters have appeared in the most seasons of ‘AHS.’ Sarah has received five Emmy nominations for her ‘AHS’ performances. She has also starred in other Ryan Murphy projects like ‘American Crime Story’ and ‘Ratched.’ Sarah will simultaneously star in ‘AHS: Double Feature’ and ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story.’

Lily Rabe

Lily Rabe played Nora Montgomery on ‘American Horror Story: Murder House.’ She has subsequently appeared in several other seasons of the show: ‘Asylum,’ ‘Coven,’ ‘Freak Show,’ ‘Hotel,’ ‘Apocalypse’ and ‘1984.’ One of her most notable characters is Misty Day from ‘Coven.’ She will star as Doris Gardner in ‘AHS: Double Feature.’

Jamie Brewer starred as Addie Langdon in the first season of ‘American Horror Story.’ She has also appeared in other ‘AHS’ seasons like ‘Coven,’ ‘Freak Show,’ ‘Cult,’ and ‘Apocalypse.’ She reprised the role of Addie in an episode of ‘American Horror Stories,’ the ‘AHS’ spinoff.
