1. What’s Wrong with the Waffles?

Some frozen waffles made by TreeHouse Foods may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Eating something that’s contaminated can cause an infection called listeriosis, which has flu-like symptoms and can be deadly for young children, the elderly, or people with weak immune systems. The potential contamination was found through routine testing, and there have been no reports of illness yet.

2. Which Products are Being Recalled?

There are dozens of frozen waffle products under many brand names being recalled. The most popular brand may be Kodiak Cakes, known for its protein-filled products. Most other brands are house brands for stores like Walmart (Great Value brand), Target (Good & Gather brand), Publix, Harris Teeter, and Giant Eagle. The recall includes many different flavors of waffle as well, including blueberry, buttermilk, and multigrain, among others.
