"No purchase necessary" is the greatest phrase in the fast food world because when it's paired with "free," you can get something actually free. It's music to our ears — and stomachs.

Krispy Kreme is the latest chain to break out that phrase, and this time it's in celebration of National Doughnut Day. On this Friday, June 2, 2023, you can get a free doughnut at any Krispy Kreme location, no strings attached.

Literally all you have to do is walk into a Krispy Kreme shop (or pull up to the drive-thru!) and ask for a doughnut, and they'll hand you one for free. You don't have to buy anything, or order anything on the app, or give up any personal data to do it. It's a refreshing change of pace from the usual jumping through hoops you have to do to get anything free now.

Honestly the hardest part of the whole thing is deciding whether you want a blueberry cake doughnut, a sprinkled doughnut, an original glazed, or one of the latest limited-time doughnuts like banana pudding or key lime pie. You can choose any of them for your freebie.

Of course, Krispy Kreme is hoping that you'll be tempted to buy more doughnuts once you're in the door, but there's also a deal for that. If you buy a dozen, you can get a dozen of original glazed doughnuts for $2 more. That's far from free, but unless your office is carpooling to KK clown car style, it's the best way to celebrate National Doughnut Day with everyone.

It is technically possible to get a dozen (or more!) for free if you have a lot of locations near you, maybe a good disguise, and no shame, but we're not going to officially encourage you to try that. Just bringing it up because we're totally not tempted to do it ourselves, we swear.

Once you've stocked up, maybe it's time to head over to Dunkin' where you can conduct a head-to-head taste test with Krispy Kreme like we did.
