The Coolest Food Truck Parks Across America

If food trucks became a popular trend 10 or so years ago, food truck parks seem to be a big trend for 2021. Just in the last few months, parks have opened in Atlanta; Boise, Idaho; San Antonio, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; Fort Wayne, Indiana; and other cities, with more planned for the future. For a sample of what some of these food truck parks bring to the table, here are 20 locations across the country (including some of those listed above) offering up local eats, live entertainment, community spaces, and more.

Oklahoma City

Located in OKC's hip Midtown neighborhood, Bleu Garten features the menus of around 25 food trucks that offer up a range of eats, from burgers and tacos to Turkish, Italian, and Greek fare. In addition to its many culinary offerings, the park has a bar with cocktails, shooters, beer, wine, and cider. Closed on Monday and Tuesday, the dog-friendly park is open after 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, after 11 a.m. on Saturdays, and after 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Portland, Oregon

This hip Pacific Northwest city has more than a handful of food truck parks, but Cartlandia seems to be the most popular (judging by the number and quality of Google reviews). It features around 30 food trucks and carts with a wide variety of globally inspired fare, including Thai, Indian, Korean, Puerto Rican soul food, Arabic, Mexican, and more. There's also the on-site Blue Room Bar, an indoor space where you can get your drink on while chowing down on your food truck fare (but no outside beverages).

Austin, Texas

The Lone Star State's capital gets plenty of coverage for being one of the best food truck park cities in the nation. Among the more popular is The Picnic, which is located near Barton Springs' array of restaurants, just across the river from downtown Austin, and about a 10-minute walk from Austin's popular Zilker Park. There are about a dozen trucks in the park, which includes a few spots where you can shop and more where you can eat. For meals, expect tacos, burgers, Thai, Mediterranean, and more.

Boulder, Colorado

Another food truck park that focuses on providing a place for the community to gather, Rayback Collective is open seven days a week and includes not just food trucks, but an area for live music, a coffee bar, and a regular bar, in addition to more features and spaces that encourage folks to gather. About three mobile kitchens are on the docket each day, and they include a wide selection of culinary stylings, including crepes, Mexican food, Tibetan food, tapas, and more.

Nashville

If you like your food trucks with a side of flea market, this location has around 10 food trucks plus the Music City Flea on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Opened in 2019, the Music City Food Truck Park also features live music; cocktails, beers, and hard seltzer; a 4,000-square-foot deck, and more than 70 picnic tables (because who wants to hunt for a place to sit down and get your grub on). Participating food trucks include The Mac Shack, The Tennessee Cobbler Co., Allen's Smokehouse, and more.

West Hartford, Connecticut

Dog-friendly and focused on community, GastroPark's tagline invites customers to "come gather and graze." It has a handful of food trucks showing up most days of the week (it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), as well as beer, wine, mocktails, and more. This summer the park is hosting art pop-up art events a couple of Saturdays each month through October, and there's also cornhole and other events that include dance parties, yoga and coffee sessions, and more.

San Francisco

Opened in 2012, this food truck park has recently rebranded to what it's calling District Six — a place where you can grab a bite to eat at one of the nearly 15+ participating food trucks ... but also get a haircut and take a workout class while you're there. The mobile kitchen menu is about as eclectic and global as you would expect from a San Francisco establishment, offering Asian, Latin, Middle Eastern, vegan, and more.

St. Louis, Missouri

With a seven-day rotation of the city's "best and most beloved food trucks," 9 Mile Garden is located in St. Louis's Affton suburb, about 20 minutes southwest of the city center. It has nearly 40 trucks on its 2021 lineup, with about as diverse a lineup of culinary offerings as a food truck park can have. There's also The Canteen, a "modern draft house" offering a varied lineup of beers, wine, and cocktails as well as cold brew coffee. The park features live music on Friday nights, outdoor movies, and other special events.

Los Angeles

This food truck park is actually one of a trio of Steelcraft locations — the others are in Long Beach and Garden Grove. At Steelcraft Bellflower, expect to choose between fried chicken sandwiches, tacos, pizza, and Filipino food, and you can wash any of that down with beer from Ten Mile Brewing, vino from the Off Duty Wine Bar, or a cappuccino from Solid Coffee Roasters. There's also ice cream from Softie House, a Long Beach soft-serve creamery, and a solid lineup of events including craft classes, pop-up shops, and live music.

St. Augustine, Florida

As if beautiful and historic St. Augustine wasn't enough of a reason to visit Florida, there's this colorful, lush, and eclectic food park that opened in late 2018. With four regular food trucks and two rotating mobile kitchens serving up meals seven days a week, you can expect to find poke and açaí bowls, smoothies, Mexican street food, BBQ, coffee, and macarons on the menu. Family- and pet-friendly, The Village Garden is also located just around the corner from the beach.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Featuring seven food trucks and live music, this location is Milwaukee's first and only food truck park. Zócalo — pronounced soh-kuh-loh — is Spanish for plaza or town square, and that further translates to the park's organizers exhibiting a commitment to uniting people and supporting local small businesses. The food here ranges from tacos, sushi, and arepas to fried chicken sandwiches, bagels, and ice cream. There's an on-site tavern, too, open every day but Monday.

Detroit

It's kind of hard to not get excited about any location with "boozery" in the name, but Detroit Fleat backs that bit of marketing vernacular up with plenty else to get psyched about. It's got two permanent trucks on the menu, offering Italian flatbreads and pita sandwiches, as well as a lineup of rotating trucks serving up plenty more diverse fare, including comfort food, vegetarian/vegan, tacos, and much more (including one that has us intrigued with an "artisan shredded hash browns" menu). The park is open Wednesday through Sunday and includes a full bar.

Denver, Colorado

This indoor Mile High City taproom and coffee bar has an outdoor, dog-friendly patio that hosts around two to four food trucks seven days a week. Food and drinks — including spirits, coffee, tea, kombucha, and more — are on the menu, and Improper City also has a pretty full lineup of events that include live music, yoga classes, and comedy nights. The park hosts one vegan night per month, too.

Redding, California

Northern California folks can venture to Redding's The Park Thursday through Saturday for a selection of food trucks that serve pizza, tacos, crepes, frozen treats, margaritas, beers, and much more. The park features music — live bands and DJs — on many nights, and on Sundays it hosts a vendor market.

Boise, Idaho

The new dog- and family-friendly Green Acres, which opened in late May, borders the Boise River Greenbelt and serves both lunch and dinner from a varied roundup of food trucks that "rotate in and out from 11 a.m.-8 p.m." There's an onsite cafe, a bar, yard games, and the park has live music "as many nights as possible." It also features a "workout and brunch" series on Saturday mornings.

Minneapolis

Most food truck parks are outdoors, but not Seventh Street. Its mobile kitchens are parked indoors and serve tacos, pizza, sandwiches, and more. It also features 40-ounce beers and "Kool Aid Cocktails," which lean into its trailer park-esque theme. On Thursday through Saturday nights, the atmosphere really gets going with live bands and DJs. It's open every day but Mondays and Tuesdays and features a daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. (and all day Sunday).

Savannah, Georgia

Starland hosts a variety of rotating food trucks each week but also has a permanent pizza joint, Vittoria Pizzeria, as well as a bar serving a pretty good variety of beers, wine, cocktails, cold brew coffee, and a rotating slushie menu. Like other parks on this list, you'll find live music here as well as other events focused on art, culture, retail pop-ups, and other forms of entertainment.

Petoskey, Michigan

The residents of this Lake Michigan-adjacent community have The Back Lot to satisfy both their beer cravings and hunger. Both a beer garden and food truck park, this location is open seven days a week and, in addition to a rotating slate of around six trucks offering tacos, fish and chips, pizza, and more, it features the occasional live music and other events such as yoga classes.

Charleston, South Carolina

With a small handful of food trucks serving up grub each day, this Holy City food truck park doesn't have a ton of variety on its culinary docket, but what it lacks there it makes up for in entertainment. Expect variety shows, trivia nights, pop-up markets, and games like Jenga, cornhole, and more. There's also a full menu of cocktails, beer, and wine.
