1. What Fisher-Price Products Are Being Recalled?

The recalled products are all models of Fisher-Price Snuga Swings. The swings have a motor that rocks the inclined infant seat front-to-back and side-to-side automatically. There are 21 Snuga Swing models with minor differences in colors and toy accessories. All have two seat back positions and fold up for storage.

2. Why are Snuga Swings Being Recalled?

Between 2012 and 2022, there were reportedly five infant deaths of babies under 3 months old who were using the Snuga Swing for sleep. In most of those cases, the babies were unrestrained and bedding had been added to the swing, according to the CPSC. The swings are not meant for sleep, and if bedding is added, the headrest and body-support insert on the seat pad can increase the risk of suffocation.

The recalled Fisher-Price Snuga Swings were sold at Amazon, Toys R Us, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Target nationwide for about $160. Approximately 2.1 million Snuga Swings were sold in the U.S. since 2010, with an additional 99,000 sold in Canada and 500 sold in Mexico.

5. What Should I Do if I Have a Recalled Swing?

Anyone who has a recalled Snuga Swing should immediately remove the headrest and body support insert from the product before using it again. The headrest can be removed by snipping the tether with scissors. Both Fisher-Price and the CPSC reiterate that the swing should never be using for sleep.

6. How Do I Get a Refund?

Fisher-Price is offering a $25 refund to anyone who purchased the product and removes and destroys the headrest and body support insert. The company has provided both written instructions and a video on how to do that. Once finished, you can go to the Fisher-Price website for the recall, upload a picture of the removed headrest and body support insert, and request your refund.

7. How Can I Keep My Baby Safe While Sleeping?

Always place an infant on a firm, flat surface with nothing but a fitted sheet for sleep, according to the CPSC. Infants cannot lift their heads away from soft objects that pose a suffocation risk. For more information, visit the CPSC’s Safe Sleep website.
