What's the Favorite in Your State

As Americans, we love our nuggets. And when we love something, we have strong opinions about anybody who would talk trash about it. So put your dukes up, because it’s time to talk about the best fast-food nuggets.

What’s your favorite? Does the rest of your state agree with you? Luckily, Betting.us put together a report based on a survey of American adults to determine which states love which chicken nuggets the most. Here’s what they uncovered.

Christian C. / Yelp

McDonald’s

Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Maine, Connecticut, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Hawaii, Alaska

Congrats, McDonald’s, you could really use a win. More than anywhere else in the country, McDonald’s was the top choice for chicken nuggets. They’re iconic, so I get it, but if you ask me? Poor sauce choices and inconsistency make these a lower-tier nugget.

Chick-fil-A

California, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Massachusetts

Chick-fil-A is a game of highs and lows. An underrated sandwich, yes, but a bangin’ iced coffee. One great sauce amongst a bunch of duds, and some of the best nuggets in the fast-food world. I can see why so many people choose this, but they’re sleeping on KFC, whose nuggets these days are nearly identical.

Wendy’s

Washington, Idaho, Ohio, New York, Michigan, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland

It’s surprising to see Wendy’s land higher than KFC or Popeyes. I’m not a fan personally, and those saucy nightmares are absolutely not for me. But they’re for these nine states, and I’m not here to yuck anybody’s yum. (Well, maybe a little.)

Iris W. / Yelp

Burger King

Kansas, Vermont

Before today, I would not have guessed that Kansas and Vermont have anything in common, but here we are. Burger King is often much better than I give it credit for (I’ve recently learned the soft serve is actually outstanding), but the nuggets should not be anybody’s favorite nuggets. Not by a long shot.

Thien N. / Yelp

KFC

Kentucky

Everybody who chose Chick-fil-A must not be aware that KFC has completely revamped its nugget game. It seems directly inspired by Chick-fil-A; tiny, spherical, mismatched shapes and everything. Kentucky, unsurprisingly, knows this. The rest of the country would do well to open their eyes.

Hannah S. / Yelp

Cookout

North Carolina

It stands to reason that the main cause for a single-state showing for Cookout is the menu size. If you’re not familiar with the chain, it’s a lawless place. That menu is the Wild West, with a tray system that allows you to grab quesadillas, corn dogs, cheese bites, and other wacky sides along with your burger. It’s easy for nuggets to get lost in there.

Rey C./Yelp

Popeyes

Louisiana

Popeyes doesn’t technically have nuggets, so I’m not sure what’s going on here. They are featuring boneless wings now, but that’s more of a new thing. Either way, I’m a Popeyes guy, so if it didserve nuggets, I’d be outraged that only its home state is aware of its greatness.
