People will sell anything. That’s probably because people will pay for anything, especially when it comes to swag or limited edition merch. Ever wondered what kind of stuff in the fast-food world people have held onto? Check out these seven fast-food items that were sold for a major profit.
Sold For: $99,997
I wish I had the type of brain that thought, “Hey, I just got a chicken nugget shaped like one of the characters from a moderately popular mobile game, perhaps I should sell this for the price of a brand new BMW.”
Alas, I don’t. But somebody does.
Sold For: $21,510
Masao “Charlie” Watanabe is a fan of Kentucky Fried Chicken, that’s for sure, and his home country of Japan loves the Colonel; he even claims that most KFCs have statues of Harland out front. He was happy to lay down 20 grand for the iconic white suit at a KFC memorabilia auction he attended while on a work trip in Dallas.
Sold For: $14,700
Quite a reputation this sauce has, eh? Back when “Mulan” was released in 1998, McDonald’s whipped this sauce out as part of a promotion for the movie. It was then immortalized in an episode of “Ricky and Morty,” and because that fandom is so incredibly intense, it sold for nearly $15,000 in the blink of an eye. I don’t get it with that show, but it looks like I’m alone in that one.
Sold For: $3,000
“A Minecraft Movie” has cooked up a casual $500 million at the box office, so it makes sense that McDonald’s would squeeze some toys out of the situation. One of the six items available with the Happy Meals, a purple Grimace egg, was listed for $3,000 on eBay.
Sold For: $781.96
There’s a lot going on here with this statue, not the least of which, his grimacing face as he sucks down that French Fry cigarette. Apparently you can tie and untie his shoes, and he’s got a six-foot, 100-pound brother. If this 2.5” statue sold for almost eight bills, I can’t imagine what the basketball-sized statue is going for.
Almost Sold For: $150
I love that somebody was basically just out to poison people here with this six year-old burger. They would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for that meddling eBay.
Sold For: $45
“Big” money? Maybe not. Money at all? Yes. This Georgie Pie (an international specialty at McDonald’s in New Zealand) was frozen in 2020 and sold for $45, which has to be at least 10 times the amount that was paid.
