20 Discontinued Pizza Hut Menu Items Most People Won't Remember

Pizza Hut giveth, Pizza Hut taketh away. The chain has been around since 1958, and in that time they have released, and then locked in the vault, a slew of limited-time offers for one of America's favorite comfort foods.

Detroit-style pizza, which is known for its thick, crunchy-edged crust and heaps of extra sauce on top, is great when it's the real deal. Pizza Hut didn't seem to nail that one, introduced as a limited-time offer in 2021 and then yanked back pretty quickly. 

They really did it. They stuck a hot dog in the crust. And they put mustard on it. But, no ketchup? Just tomato sauce? Feels like maybe we've got a few too many pizzaiolos in the cucina. I'd say this seems like a nightmare, because it does, but the truth is, I'd give anything to be able to taste it.

The Panormous Pizza was an extra-large rectangular pizza said to offer 50% more pizza than Pizza Hut's standard round pizza. Aimed at feeding larger groups, it was discontinued in 2010. 

Pizza Hut was slinging all manner of gigantic pizzas back in the day. This 2-foot long rectangular pizza debuted in 1993 and lasted three years before the Hut killed it off.

The Big Italy was basically the same deal as the Bigfoot, measuring in at 18 inches. Pizza Hut really had a moment with cooking up big ole' rectangular pizzas.

This is the kind of ooey-gooey nonsense we've come to know from Pizza Hut. With a crust topped with Italian sausage and pasta, this was somewhere between lasagna and deep-dish pizza. Genius. This one had a criminally short run in the early 2010s.

Pizza Hut's Priazzo lineup was supposed to mimic traditional Italian pizzas (take that off your to-do list, Pizza Hut), and the Roma featured sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. This double-crusted, deep-dish beauty was around in the mid-'80s.  

Though it was before Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were owned by the same group, the Fiesta Taco Pizza was basically made up of ingredients from both chains. You know exactly what this is: Taco meat, lettuce, and tomato on top of a cheese pizza. 

Pizza Hut has stuffed just about everything they can think of into the crust of its pizzas, so it only makes sense that bacon had a turn. Crispy bacon bits are an A+ crust filling. 

Rather than stuffing the crust this time, the Hut topped it with tangy Asiago cheese. It didn't last long after its debut in the early 2010s. 

The Edge Pizza was a thin-crust pizza with toppings spread edge-to-edge, for "maximum topping coverage." Extremely '90s. This pie only barely made it past Y2K.

Here's some real innovation for you: This pie had a crust that you could tear off and dip into sauce. I love that idea, though I'm not sure what you do after that. You still need to hold your pizza. Am I supposed to stick my thumbs all over my pepperoni? I don't think so. 

It's probably best left as something to dip at the end of eating your slice, but then again, that's pretty much how I eat pizza anyway. That crust is always getting dipped. 

Calzones landed at Pizza Hut in 2002. They basically folded a pizza base in half over itself and sealed it on the end, but that's a beautiful thing. This one's popped back up a few times over the years. 

This is the kind of thing the Hut needs to do more of. Quepapas were tasty little potato bites filled with cheese and jalapeño, like a starchier hushpuppy. They were gone by the mid-2010s.

Yeah, Pizza Hut had sandwiches in the '70s and '80s. Nobody in their right mind is going to Pizza Hut for an Italian sub, but I would still at least like the option to.

The chain has made some attempts at pasta in the past. This one consisted of creamy mac and cheese topped with bacon, but didn't make it many years past its creation in 2008. 

Everybody's favorite frozen oven snack existed at Pizza Hut once. There's even a petition to bring them back.

Imagine a big, rectangular pizza. Then, imagine it cut into strips. Now, imagine it surrounded with a bunch of dipping sauces. That's the Big Dipper for you. It only made it a few years into the early 2010s.

The stuffed-crust record books will remember this pie fondly. Stuffed Crust Gold was already stuffed with a blend of three cheeses, but Pizza Hut went the extra mile on this one and topped it with cheddar cheese on the outside as well.  

The '90s were a beautiful time in fast food. Here’s a shock: The Triple Decker Pizza, which is exactly what it sounds like, ended up being a caloric nightmare. It was also a little too complex to prepare at the volume the chain needed.
