Bottoms Up

A good drink doesn't come cheap most places. Except during happy hour, when two-for-one specials and savings on wine, beer, cocktails, and food make it easy to buy a round for your friends or even pick up the tab if you're feeling flush. These bars — including one Denver institution — earn rave reviews for their great happy hours from patrons on social media and food critics alike. You'll notice a few states are missing. That's because happy hour — selling booze at a discount in order to entice customers — is illegal in eight states. In July, Virginia legalized happy hour after more than 30 years of banning the practice.
