HBO Max is rolling out a reboot of the beloved "A Christmas Story," appropriately titled, "A Christmas Story Christmas," with several original cast members in tow. Peter Billingsley is reprising his role as Ralphie — only he's technically the "old man" 2.0 since the movie takes place shortly after the original old man (Ralphie's dad, played by Darren McGavin in the original movie) dies, 30 years after Flick infamously got his tongue stuck on the frozen flagpole. Adult Ralphie is subsequently tasked with making his own family's Christmas as special as the memorable holiday from his own childhood that was chronicled in the original 1983 movie.

Unlike the flop sequels that were 1994's "My Summer Story" and 2012's "A Christmas Story 2," "A Christmas Story Christmas," as seen in the newly released trailer, is full of nods to the original movie and seems to echo the storyline, capitalizing on the nostalgia surrounding it. Viewers can expect the latest version to carry on as though the other installments never existed, which is unlikely to be met with any protest.
