Not So Sweet

But Hammond’s Candies, a maker of all kinds of chocolate treats, is recalling its chocolate-filled waffle cones, according to an announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Oct. 3, 2024. Here’s everything you need to know, including how to get your money refunded.

U.S. Food & Drug Administration

1. What’s Wrong With the Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones?

The recalled Hammond’s dark chocolate-filled mini waffle cones may have traces of milk in the product, which is not disclosed on the label. That means that anyone with a dairy allergy may have an adverse reaction.

"The recall was initiated after the firm received one consumer report of an allergic reaction experienced after consuming the product," the FDA wrote on its website. "As part of the firm's ongoing investigation, the product was tested and found to contain more than trace amounts of milk proteins, which is not indicated on the packaging. The firm’s investigation into the cause is ongoing."
