Extra Meat, Extra Cheese, Extra Inflation

There are few restaurants of any variety as beloved as Chipotle in this country, and value is a big reason for a lot of people. That might be changing soon, since Chipotle just announced it will be raising its prices once again.

Why Is Chipotle Raising Its Prices?

As is often the case these days, inflation is pointed to as the culprit here. The sad reality is that most restaurants are still probably too cheap to comfortably stay in business, despite how much prices need to go up. “For the first time in over a year,” said Laurie Schalow, Chipotle's chief corporate affairs officer, “We have taken a modest price increase of approximately 2% nationally to offset inflation."

It should be noted that most major fast-food chains, Chipotle included, have raised their prices over the past decade at nearly double the rate of inflation, according to FinanceBuzz.
