Unreal Estates

Celebrity real estate is a world unto itself, one of seven- to eight-figure properties that are either homes to the stars or investment opportunities that appreciate with time. These are some of the more lavish homes of the rich and famous recently on the market, but even the more modest homes on this list tend to be stars in their own right, including the Los Angeles mansion listed for $21 million once owned by movie and pop star Madonna.

Prices and availability are subject to change.

Madonna's Hollywood Hills House
MLS/Zillow

Madonna: $21 Million

Los Angeles

Though you might expect a house owned by Madonna to be modern, you might be surprised by the Los Angeles home nestled in the Hollywood Hills once owned by the singer. It's a salute to Mediterranean style and, though ornate, decidedly retro. On the market for $21 million, the 10,513 square-foot mansion has a scandalous history, but not because of Madonna. The home was once used to run a gambling den by mobster Bugsy Siegel in the 1930s. The nine-bedroom, six-bathroom home has Mediterranean-style gates, ceilings, and even water features, plus a sedate pool in the backyard (sorry, no waterfalls).
