Big Ole Buffets

Buffets are beloved for offering an assortment of cuisines, appetizers, entrees, side dishes, salads, and desserts all under one roof.

But if you want to head into one of these places and really do some damage at the buffet line, loading your plate with everything you could possibly gobble down, there are some seriously huge buffets — like Shady Maple Smorgasbord, which is the nation’s biggest — worth a visit.

1. Shady Maple Smorgasbord

Location: East Earl, Pennsylvania

Dubbed “Largest Smorgasbord in the USA," Shady Maple doesn’t merely span 200 feet of buffet space just to offer mediocre food — the buffet has an impressive 4.6-star rating on Google Reviews with people raving about their (obviously) huge selection of dishes.

With more than 200 dishes daily, visitors can get their hands (and mouths) on everything from Pennsylvania Dutch favorites to American classics, along with a variety of international cuisines. As if its existing spread wasn’t enough, the buffet offers a steak night, seafood night, and prime rib night with corresponding menu additions.

2. Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace

Location: Las Vegas

"Sin City" might be Las Vegas’ most well-known nickname, but “The Buffet Capital of the World” is right up there. The city is loaded with buffets, and Bacchanal at the iconic Caesars Palace is just the first you’ll find on this round-up.

Las Vegas’ biggest buffet is one of the most extravagant in the world with over 250 dishes available daily, including everything from fresh seafood and sushi to prime rib and global cuisine. Bacchanal also has a whopping 10 open kitchens and nine chef-attended action stations where chefs prepare dishes in front of guests.

3. The Buffet at Wynn

Location: Las Vegas

The Buffet at Wynn in Las Vegas is nothing like the buffets you’re used to. Among the restaurant’s 16 live-action cooking stations, there is an eggs Benedict station and a Latin street food station.

The buffet still stays true to tradition though, offering items like hand-carved meats and shrimp cocktail among its 90-plus dishes.

4. The Nordic

Location: Charlestown, Rhode Island

With a lakeside locale, The Nordic buffet is renowned for its seafood and upscale environment (there’s even a required dress code — beyond “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service”). The all-you-can-eat buffet — which is one of the largest in the region — features an impressive selection of fresh seafood and quintessential New England cuisine, but isn’t exclusively seafood, offering things like chicken wings, steak, and ribs.

Of course, with such an elaborate menu comes a wallet-crushing price tag of $135 per adult. Better come hungry with your crab-leg-cracking fingers ready!

5. North Country Steak Buffet

Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin

Arby’s might claim to “have the meats,” but North Country Steak Buffet begs to differ. With nearly 70 dishes to choose from, this buffet’s emphasis is on meat — from steaks to burgers.

There’s also an all-you-can-eat salad bar, taco bar, and dessert bar (collectively one of the biggest cold buffets) for good measure.

If there’s one thing Disney World knows how to do, it’s lean into a theme wholeheartedly. Located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boma Flavors of Africa is designed to look like an African marketplace with a menu to match.

The menu is exploding with African flavors from more than 50 different countries, alongside some traditional American favorites. As expected from Disney, there are also robust live-action cooking stations, including an opportunity to watch chefs Oak-roast meat.
