Cupcakes Continued
Cupcakes are really hanging onto their 15th minute of fame. It's been 18 years since Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw and recent gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon's Miranda Hobbes ate cupcakes outside of Magnolia Bakery in the West Village during season three of "Sex and the City" — launching the Cupcake Decade. Magnolia has since expanded around the globe, is expected to open hundreds more and is still on the "Sex and the City" bus tour. Even though the cupcake has taken a backseat to doughnuts, cronuts, and various other baked goods of the moment, that initial cupcake wave blanketed the U.S. and gave each state a reason to savor the sweet remains of the cupcake's boom years.
