Bulking Solo

We all know Costco is great for families, but what about those who only have to feed and clothe themselves? Does the bulk buy warehouse have anything worth the time and money of a single person?

Yes, it turns out. Single and unwilling to give up that Costco card? Here are 15 things to buy next time you’re at Costco. (Not a Costco member? You can apply here.)

1. Frozen Veggies

Much of Costco’s freezer section is unfriendly for the single shopper; chances are, you’re getting sick of those frozen burritos before you’re able to finish the 36-pack. But when it comes to frozen veggies, we’re talking about something you’re going to need time and time again.

2. Batteries

Running out of batteries is an incredibly defeating feeling, but if you’re locked and stocked from Costco, that may never happen. It’s comforting just thinking about it.

3. TVs

Is it safe to guess you’ve got some time on your hands? Costco’s TV deals are not to be missed, especially during holiday sales.

Costco

4. Oatmeal

A shelf-stable breakfast like oatmeal is good to horde in bulk. Plus, you can stick some in your disaster kit if you get tired of seeing it in the pantry.

Costco

5. Coffee

If coffee is part of your morning routine, the money you spend on it adds up. Whether or not you’re brewing your java from ground beans, using a Keurig, or hitting your local coffee shop each morning like the richest person in town, Costco’s bulk deals are very likely to save you a ton.

6. Socks and Underwear

This is great if you need to do an entire sock-and-underwear-drawer refresh and don’t feel like spending a lot of money. Those types of things can beat up your wallet.

7. Paper Towels

You’re probably not going to stop making messes any time soon, so why buy a few rolls at a time? Stock up and save some change. This is what your storage closet is for.

8. Rotisserie Chicken

You probably don’t need to be sold on Costco’s rotisserie chicken, because truly, there’s no person it’s wrong for; it’s such wonderful food. If you do need to be sold on it, here’s the pitch: It’s juicy, tender, and can potentially last you three to four meals.

9. Lightbulbs

If you’re anything like me, your light bulbs go out slowly around the house and you are too lazy to change them until you’re fully living in the dark. This is where a bulk supply comes in.

10. Vitamins and Supplements

Vitamins and supplements can be extremely expensive, especially if you’re relying on small pharmacy bottles. If there are some that you plan on taking indefinitely, storing them in bulk will save you time and energy.

11. Electric Toothbrush Heads

Though you can usually only buy the actual toothbrush in two-packs, you can grab packs of replacement heads to take advantage of Costco’s prices.

12. Books

That’s right, Costco still has books. It may in fact be one of the last places that does.

(But get 'em while you can, as the company recently announced that hundreds of Costco warehouses will stop carrying books year round and only have them for the holidays.)

You might be able to grab cheaper sets at a store like Target, but you can get superior quality dinnerware for only a few bucks more at Costco.
