Brunch is more than just breakfast and lunch combined — it’s a state of mind. Whether you prefer relaxing with friends over bottomless mimosas or going high-end with the family for a special occasion, there’s a brunch place for everyone. We looked at reviews and online rankings, as well as included some personal experience, to find the best brunches in every state (as well as Washington, D.C.). Read on and try not to get hungry.

Mobile

This small chain restaurant is the brainchild of a New Orleans-born chef with a life-long love affair with breakfast. The Creole omelet, packed with shrimp and andouille, is a must-try.

Anchorage

This brunch destination has been around since 1998, so they’re doing something right. There likely aren’t many places in the country where you can order the Tundra Scramble with reindeer sausage.

Phoenix

If you’re picky about your breakfast food, Brunch Snob is worth a visit. The eatery’s slogan is “Great Food, No Bull—t”. They aim to serve comfort food with a twist. Top choices include the Mother Clucker, their version of chicken and waffles, while the spicy version features  jalapeño infused maple syrup.

Little Rock

Farm-to-table is taken seriously at the Root Cafe, where nearly all food is sourced locally. The restaurant’s biscuit sandwiches are made with local eggs, meat, and cheese, and the granola is made in-house.

Los Angeles

The chef behind Republique has received accolades from the Michelin Guide and The James Beard Foundation, so you know it will be good. The Maine lobster omelet, Potato Pancake, and Pupusa are menu standouts.

Sunny Side

When a restaurant is named after bacon, it’s only a good sign. The Signature Bacon Flight offers six unique bacon flavors, including chile lime and French toast.

Westport

The dishes at Nomade are inspired by Morocco, Tulum, and the Mediterranean, offering an exotic twist on brunch. Go for the savory Nomade Pesto eggs, or satisfy your sweet tooth with house-made Beignets.

Newark

This award-winning brunch chain is worth stopping into for fresh breakfast creations. Honey Bacon Brussels Hash and Salted Caramel Holey Donuts are particularly tempting.

Located in the heart of the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, Founding Farmersis just 3 blocks from the White House. While you’re trying to spy a politician, order the Breakfast Street Tacos or the Chicken & Waffles.

Miami

This breakfast spot is known for its generous portions. Some menu standouts are the Burrata Avocado Toast, the Monaco Omelette, and the Cotton Candy Mimosa.

Atlanta

Grab a down-home breakfast from this popular brunch spot. Favorites include the Peach Cobbler French Toast and the Gulf Shrimp & Grits.

Honolulu

This casual, cozy eatery serves breakfast all day. The Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict is packed with homemade Hawaiian-style shredded pork.

Boise

This funky breakfast spot is known for giving its breakfast items quirky names. Netflix and Chill Burrito are popular, as are Keep Calm and Scrambler On.

Chicago

This cute cafe has been around since 2012 and offers an array of creative breakfast options. They say their French Toast Flight is world famous.

Indianapolis

Milktooth was named one of the 10 best new restaurants by Bon Appetit and it’s easy to see why when you look at the menu. Try the Sourdough Waffle, and wash it down with a beermosa.

Amana

Ox Yoke Inn’s dishes are based on old-world German recipes passed down for generations. The Sunday brunch menu features tasty options like omelets, kielbasa with roasted apples, and bread pudding.

Overland Park

Customers on Yelp love the large portions at AR’s. The Mexican-inspired menu features Breakfast Tacos, Chorizo con Papas, and Chilaquiles.

Bardstown

Mammy’s was named Best Breakfast by Kentucky Living magazine and has also been on numerous “best of” lists. Menu standouts: deep-fried Cinnabon roll and the “Kentucky Breakfast Hot Brown” with turkey, ham, eggs, bacon, and tomato on Texas toast with hot brown sauce.

New Orleans

Atchafalaya means long river, and you’ll want to linger for a long time at this NOLA brunch spot.

The duck hash is a standout, as is the Creole-themed breakfast risotto.

Portland

Reviewers say the atmosphere is quintessentially “New England.” If you want a seafood-heavy breakfast, this is the place to go. Try the Lobster Scramble and the Maine Crab Cake.

Montgomery

MoCo’s Founding Farmers has won a number of awards for its sustainable practices. Most ingredients are sourced from local family farms. Breakfast Street Tacos are a must-try.

Boston

This two-floor restaurant has a vibrant bar scene, but weekend brunch is just as hot.

The Hangover Breakfast Burger sounds perfect after a late night.

Detroit

The brunch menu is huge at The Hudson Cafe, which makes sense since the restaurant specializes in serving it daily. The Red Velvet Pancakes with cream cheese frosting sound out of this world, but if you’re more into savory, go for the House Made Corned Beef Hash.

Minneapolis

This cozy neighborhood cafe serves up Midwestern comfort food. Try the Meat Waffle, which features a malted Belgian waffle stuffed with bacon, ham, and cheddar jack cheese.

Pass Christian

Authentic Cajun cuisine is featured on the menu here, giving brunch a spicy twist. Try the Brunch Debris Fries with beef debris.

Springfield

Gailey’s was once a 1950s drugstore with a soda fountain counter. Times have changed but the cafe is still a popular destination. Try the Breakfast Mac and Cheese tossed with eggs and bacon.

Bozeman

Jam! aims to provide great brunch food and good times. The restaurant serves an extensive list of mimosas, along with five types of benedicts and numerous pancake options.

Omaha

This neighborhood joint features Midwestern breakfast favorites with flair. The Churro French Toast, which is crusted with cornflakes and coated with caramel whip and hazelnut spread, is a popular choice.

Las Vegas

After a night of hitting the slot machines, head to AmeribBrunch in downtown Vegas, which offers a full brunch daily. The bloody mary in particular gets great reviews.

Portsmouth

All-day brunch is served at the Friendly Toast, a small chain restaurant that specializes in breakfast foods. The Spicy Salmon Roll Toast is a standout.

Montclair

This eatery offers a large selection of breakfast dishes that keep people coming back for more. The Crab Hash features fresh crabmeat, and don’t miss the Disco Eggs, with brown gravy and mozzarella curd.

Albuquerque

The Grove serves local and organic ingredients as much as possible on their all-day breakfast menu. Standouts include the prosciutto and egg toast, and pancakes drizzled with local honey.

Manhattan

Bubby’s has been a brunch destination in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood since 1990.

Go for the famous fried chicken and pancakes.

Hendersonville

This cozy breakfast joint is known for offering specialty pancakes. For a sweet treat, try the Apple Pancakes with cinnamon and whipped cream.

Fargo

This family-friendly restaurant serves homestyle favorites. The pancakes and waffles feature a secret family buttermilk recipe that The Shack claims is the best in town.

Cuyahoga Falls

The Blue Door Cafe was ranked in the No. 6 spot on Yelp's Top 100 Brunch Spots list, so it’s worth a visit. The Bourbon, Bacon, and Peach French Toast is a menu standout, as is the Chicken Pot Pie Croissant Bowl.

Various Locations

Hatch Early Mood Food is known for offering unique and inventive breakfast creations. Try the orange-glazed croissants and the Benedict Flight, featuring multiple types of egg benedicts.

Portland

Cook your own pancakes at the Hibachi-style table at this whimsical brunch spot. Of course, the item to get here is one of the many flavors of pancake batter.

Conshohocken

As its name suggests, Brunch Everyday, previously voted Best Cafe in the City by Restaurant Guru, focuses on serving exactly that, seven days of the week. Be sure to get a glass of the fresh squeezed orange juice with your pancakes, frittata, or avocado toast.

Cranston

Voted favorite brunch spot by readers of the Providence Journal, All Favorites offers elevated versions of all your favorite breakfast foods. The mushroom toast on grilled sourdough is a standout.

Charleston

Enjoy a classic Southern meal in a historic townhouse at this breakfast institution that’s been around since 1976. Try the Chicken Fried Porkchop with stone-ground grits and sausage gravy.

Sioux Falls

Brunch is offered all day long at this cafe that offers up a huge menu. The A.M. Nachos, with waffle fries, sausage gravy, eggs, cheese, Hollandaise, and relish, sounds like a perfect hangover remedy.

Nashville

This popular brunch place is usually packed, so be sure to get a reservation if you can. Try the Alabama Pork Biscuit, with pork confit, caramelized onion, Alabama white sauce, and fried egg.

Dallas

Brunch is served all day at this popular spot known for its fabulous coffees. Other specialties include shrimp and grits, chicken fried steak, and bread pudding French toast.

Sandy

The scene at Sunday’s Best feels like you’re eating breakfast during a beach vacation, not in the middle of Utah. The churro waffle is a standout, as is the homemade toaster strudel.

Burlington

The Skinny Pancake offers breakfast all day, everyday day. The crepe selection is nothing short of to die for, with both sweet options like the Hot Apple Crumble, and the savory Johny Crepe with pulled pork.

Richmond

Millie’s Diner has been a brunch hotspot for 35 years and counting. Try the Devil’s Shrimp & Grits and Millie’s Corned Beef Hash, and don’t forget to order a mimosa.

Tacoma

This award-winning restaurant is known for offering creative dishes in a neighborly environment. Get the Lobster Bomb, featuring champagne-soaked lobster and candied bacon, amongst other yummy ingredients.

Nutter Fort

Standing for Fraternal Order of Police, FOP has previously ranked as one of the most underrated restaurants in West Virginia. This casual diner-style restaurant serves breakfast all day long, every day. Breakfast is also well-priced, with many dishes under $10.

Milwaukee

This family-owned breakfast joint has rave reviews for its old-school vibe and delicious twists on breakfast classics. Standouts include the Spamlette, an omelet that features tamari-glazed Spam.

Jackson Hole

Located in a historic log cabin, the setting is just as good as the food at Cafe Genevieve.

Try the Cajun Eggs Benedict or the Cheesy Bacon Grits and Eggs.
