HERE COMES THE BILL
How much are couples spending on their big day? Nationwide, the average in 2017 was just under $25,800, according to data collected by The Wedding Report. But depending on where you live, you could easily subtract — or add — thousands. Shane McMurray, founder of The Wedding Report, says cost of living in different regions is a major factor in what couples ultimately spend, but their income, savings, and lifestyle also play a big role no matter where they call home.
What follows is a state-by-state rundown of average spending — arranged from least expensive to most — and how much it's changed in five years. We've also included average costs from each state's biggest metro area, since urban couples often (but not always) end up footing a bigger bill.
