For some people, heading to see the theater is merely an excuse to indulge in a massive bucket of buttery movie popcorn. But what if you could still dig in without going to the theater at all?

AMC, which is attempting to rebound after the pandemic forced it to the brink of bankruptcy, will bring its signature snack to customers outside of cinemas beginning next year. The massive movie chain will sell its popcorn at five mall-based AMC Theatres Perfectly Popcorn stores, counters, and kiosks by the middle of 2022, and will also offer the buttery treat at grocery and convenience stores. It is aiming to increase the Perfectly Popcorn store count to 15 by 2023, reports CNBC.

The stores will have several different flavors of popcorn made on site, along with other movie mainstays like candy. Of course, groceries and convenience stores will carry prepackaged or microwavable popcorn branded with the AMC name. If you're set on not leaving the house at all, AMC even plans to partner with food delivery services to bring popcorn to your door, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

AMC doesn't seem to think its new venture is a stretch, pointing out that its patrons buy up to 50 tons of popcorn a day. The company is also looking to diversify its business after COVID-19 shut down its theaters and brought business to a near-halt. It was among the many big names that even stopped paying rent last summer, much to the dismay of commercial landlords.
