The list of Rite Aid closures continues to grow after the pharmacy chain filed for bankruptcy in early May, the second bankruptcy for the company in less than a year. Now, another list of locations the chain plans to close has been filed in court, boosting the total number of closures up over 350. Here’s what we know, and the full list of closing locations.
Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy in early May, 2025 in order to restructure and reorganize its debts. The company cited financial woes “intensified by the rapidly evolving retail and healthcare landscapes” as the reason for the filing.
The pharmacy chain operates around 1,240 stores across 15 states and secured $1.94 billion in new financing to keep its pharmacies running smoothly through bankruptcy proceedings. However, it has announced hundreds of store closures since filing.
Many Rite Aid locations have already closed, unfortunately. But the chain has not disclosed any information about when announced closures will shutter for good. Your best bet is to call a location to verify if they are still open before going there.
